The Arches paper mill

The Abrasive Backing Activity is based mainly at one of the oldest paper mill of Arjowiggins’group in the East of France, the emblematic Arches plant,  whose roots go back to 1492.

The Arches paper mill employs around 450 people and has 7 paper and 3 press machines. Production covers three main paper-making activities :

• decorative papers 65% (printing, impregnation & lamination papers for the wood panel market)
• extrafine paper 5% (drawing, watercolour, luxury publishing and digital printing paper)
• abrasive papers 30% (paper bases for the coated abrasive manufacturing)

The Abrasive Backing Business Unit has 2 paper machines exclusively dedicated to abrasives, the AR4 and the AR8.
